Apple Pay is a mobile payment and digital wallet service by Apple Inc. that lets users make payments using the iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus, Apple Watch-compatible devices (iPhone 5 and later models), iPad Air 2, and iPad Mini 3. Apple Pay does not require Apple-specific contactless payment terminals and will work with Visa’s PayWave, MasterCard’s PayPass, and American Express’s ExpressPay terminals.
The service has begun initially only for use in the US, now Apple has announced that Apple Pay will finally launch in the UK next month, and starting this Autumn Discover cards will be supported.
“Apple Pay will launch across the United Kingdom this July. By this Autumn, Apple Pay will work with nearly 70% of credit and debit cards in the UK. Over 250,000 locations across the United Kingdom, including some of its top brands, are ready to accept Apple Pay. “
The company also announced that with iOS 9, you can add your favorite retail store cards to Apple Pay. You can also add reward cards to Apple Pay, so you can easily earn and redeem rewards.
Apple will be also renaming the Passbook app to Wallet.
