In November 2011, Adobe made a surprising announcement on its popular Flash plugin, declaring it would stop the development of Flash for mobile devices. As of today, Adobe will disable all new installs and updates of Flash on Android, effectively cutting it off from the future of the mobile web.
This statement signifies the end of Flash for the future, even though Adobe declared the program would enable the “full web experience” on mobile devices back in 2007. Instead, Adobe has surrendered the major mobile battlegrounds and pledged allegiance to HTML5, announcing last year that “HTML5 is the best solution for creating and deploying content in the browser across mobile platforms.”
HTML5, when combined with CSS3 and JavaScript is now perceived as the ideal platform for speedy full blown mobile multimedia production.
