We were thrilled to join our client, MWL Systems at the beautiful Llyndir Hall Hotel, for their recent Lunch & Learn IT event.
The day started at 8.30am with a chance to network, quickly followed with some tasty bacon butties.

The presentations started soon after and were kicked off by MWL’s security expert Matthew Reay, who explained secure networking. He looked at the simple but fundamental things businesses should be doing to reduce the risk of a cyber attack.
This was followed by a look at Hyper-Converged Storage. This was delivered by guest speakers from a leading IT company and looked at a new approach to storage management which combines data storage, computer power, networking and virtualisation technologies in one physical unit that is all managed as a single system.
There was a huge amount of useful information to take in and after a short break to recharge the brain cells there were two more informative presentations from the experts at MWL. One on combating cyber threats through effective anti-ransomware protection.
56% of all crimes which occur in the UK are now some form of cyber-crime, a staggering statistic and a stark reminder of how important it is to be aware of the risks. Nearly seven out of ten attacks on all firms involve viruses, spyware or malware, which can be prevented using the correct technology. This is certainly an area where businesses can’t afford to bury their heads in the sand. The threat of cyber is all too real. The presentation demonstrated the benefits of Sophos Intercept X which offer the best anti-ransomware protection currently available on the market.
The final presentation of the day was on securing data using Microsoft Enterprise Mobility. Securing data is a huge issue for modern businesses. So many of us have embraced mobile technology and more and more of us are working remotely so this was a great presentation to finish on.
The morning was rounded off with a delicious lunch in the hotel restaurant and the opportunity for some more networking and to digest what we had learnt.
Thank you MWL for an interesting and informative event which provided straightforward practical advice. We certainly learnt a lot!
