This week the government made its biggest announcement so far with regards to the easing of restrictions since lockdown came into force in late March; announcing that restaurants, cinemas, pubs, hairdressers and many more businesses will be able to open from the 4th of July. With restrictions slowly but surely easing many have taken to social media to celebrate, air their opinions, vent their frustrations or all of the above.
For the UK public, the past three months has significantly limited our ability to socialise, as we all did our part to slow the spread of Coronavirus. It is at times like these that many of us are thankful for the power of social media. This has allowed us to keep in touch with our nearest and dearest extremely easily as well as keep up to date with the latest news and updates.
For businesses this has also meant that they have been able to keep in contact with customers and prospective audiences effectively and for little to no cost at all. This has been the platform on which businesses have been able to highlight their adaptability to new situations (i.e. working remotely), thereby showing their professionalism and dedication to their customers.
Whether B2B or B2C, product or service led, businesses across the country have utilised social media throughout the lockdown. We have even seen those businesses that have been unable to continue operating during this time, understanding what social media can offer them in the longer term.
Had the pandemic occurred just 15 years earlier, and the marketing landscape for businesses would have been drastically different. Social media has transformed the way that businesses communicate with their audience and we don’t expect this to change any time soon.
So now with many businesses adjusting once again to a new normal, how can you continue to utilise social media to its fullest potential?
